Anne Vieux (B.1985) digitizes glossy media such as wrapping paper and holographic paper by moving or crumpling them on a scanner. The scanner's light source is reflected onto the holographic paper, and thus read into the scanner and stored as digital data. After editing and printing the results, the artist adds or subtracts sections by using air brushes and acrylic paints. Through this process, she applies the principles of computer graphics in an analog way, erasing and adding information onto the digital images, and creating a state where it is impossible to tell which elements are printed and which are drawn.

Anne Vieux majored in Art History and Painting at the Kansas City Art Institute, and earned a M.F.A. at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2012. She has held solo shows at The Journal Gallery, NY (2021), The Hole Gallery, NY (2020), and the Annka Kultys Gallery, London (2017). Her works are in the Facebook Corporate Collection, the MoMA Library Collection, and the Met Library Collection.

The Journal Gallery, NY (2021), The Hole Gallery, NY (2020), Annka Kultys Gallery, London
