Lee Hyunwoo (B. 1994) creates sculptures of foreign textures and sharp, bold shapes. The oftentimes striking images he portrays question the context that may surround certain materials, and in turn urges viewers to see them not through social meaning, but as images that exist independently.
Lee Hyunwoo graduated from Chung-Ang University in 2021, receiving a B.A. in Sculpture. He has since participated in multiple group shows at art spaces such as Gaasp, NYC; OF, Seoul; Alterside, Seoul; and Uartspace, Seoul. His solo show ‘oWo’ was held at Alterside, Seoul in 2021. Lee Hyunwoo is also the selected artist of G Gallery’s 2023 Great Exhibition program.
이현우(B. 1994)는 낯선 질감과 날카롭고 대담한 형태의 조각을 만든다. 그가 작업을 통해 나타내는 강렬한 이미지들은 특정한 소재들을 둘러싼 맥락에 의문을 제기하고, 결국 감상자로 하여금 사회적 의미가 아닌 독립적으로 존재하는 이미지로 받아드릴 것을 촉구한다.
이현우는 2021년 중앙대학교 조소과를 졸업했다. 그는 이후 뉴욕에서 진행된 Gaasp에서의 그룹전 외에 OF, Alterside, Uartspace 등과 같은 예술 공간에서 여러 그룹전에 참여하였다. 그의 개인전 'oWo'는 2021년 Alterside에서 열렸다. 이현우는 G Gallery의 2023년 Great Exhibition 프로그램의 선정 작가이기도 하다.
