Lee Jungmin (B.1981) uses MS PowerPoint to create animations. She draws paths, plants, pillars, and builds buildings with simple black line in order to recreate the different states of movement and the relative speed of time of when an individual first perceives a location. She does this, not through numbers, but through the more familiar vehicle of language. Her imaging work, based on the theory of special relativity, seeks to express the notion that the process of perceiving objects is different from individual to individual due to the difference in the observer’s movements and state of mind. Lee’s works reveal the process behind a finished image, and offers viewers a chance to experience the artist’s perception of time along with her.
After receiving her M.F.A. in Sculpture at Hongik University, Lee Jungmin has held multiple solo shows including that of the Kumho Museum of Art in 2008, the NCsoft Creative Foundation in 2013, and G Gallery in both 2016 and 2020. She has also participated in a number of group shows at institutions such as the Kumho Museum of Art, the Woomin Art Center, and the Changwon City Museum of Art. She was selected as the 6th Kumho Young Artist in 2007, and has participated in major projects such as the media facade for the Pyeongchang Public Relations Center at the 2018 Sochi Winter Olympics and at the SKT Tower.
이정민(B.1981)은 파워포인트 프로그램을 이용해 선을 쌓아 길을 만들고, 식물을 그리고, 기둥을 세우고, 건물을 짓는다. 작가는 자신이 경험한 사물의 시간을 표현하며, 외부의 절대적인 시간과는 다른 흐름으로 재현하고 있다. 부정확하고, 애매한 인간의 속도로 사물의 시간을 재현하는 이정민은 각각의 공간에서 사물의 시간을 수집해 한 화면에 병치시키고, 중첩시킨다. 하나의 완결된 형태의 존재로서의 작품을 드러내기 보다 이미지가 형성되는 과정을 드러내며, 작가의 시간을 관람자가 함께 경험할 수 있도록 유도한다.
홍익대학교 조소과와 동대학원을 졸업한 이정민은 2008년 금호미술관, 2013년 엔씨소프트 Creative Foundation, 2020년 지갤러리 등에서 개인전을 열고, 금호미술관, 우민아트센터, 창원시립미술관 등에서 열리는 다수의 그룹전에 참여하였다. 2018년 소치 동계올림픽 평창 홍보관, 2012년 셀트리온 미디어월, 2013 SKT 타워의 Media Façade 작업을 진행하고 2007년 제6회 금호영아티스트에 선정된 바 있다.
