The careful and precise work process of Robert Moreland (B.1980) begins with the making of miniature maquettes. The maquettes function as compositional guidelines for when the artist makes the decision to realize them on a larger scale. Moreland prepares his wooden panels according to their planned-out forms and hand-stretches canvas onto them using tacks. The finished three-dimensional paintings offer viewers different perspectives depending on the direction in which they are observed. Moreland experiments with how the volume of the pieces can distort the colors and shapes on the canvas, demonstrating how the folded structure is not just an object to be admired from afar, but something that viewers can interact with.

Robert Moreland has held numerous solo shows during his career, which includes The Hole NYC, the Wilding Cran LA, The Louisiana State Museum, the Shaw Center for the Arts, and the New Orleans Contemporary Art Center. Moreland’s work has been collected by the Koo House Museum and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation.

로버트 모어랜드는 뉴욕The Hole, LA의 Wilding Cran Gallery에서 개인전을 열고, 루이지애나에 있는 Louisiana State Museum와 Shaw Center for the Arts,
