Yang Juhae (B.1955) is best known for her large-scale public installation works that feature colored dots and barcodes. The dots, in particular, represent a language the artist developed during her time as a student studying abroad in France. Like letters and symbols, each dot has an assigned meaning which is hidden from all but the artist. Viewers are left to ponder, and also admire the rational and intuitive system of expression Yang uses to create her pieces. In recent years, she has been focusing on smaller pieces, painting her dots on fabric materials such as quilts and blankets.

Yang Juhae attended the Ecole d’art et d’architecture de Luminy and the Université de Paris 8, receiving a DNSEP in 1980 and a DEA in 1985. She has participated in exhibitions across the globe at institutions such as the Ewha Womans University Museum of Art, the Iwate Museum of Art, the Whanki Museum, the Seoul Arts Center, and the MMCA. Yang has also won the Suk-Nam Award in 1990, and her works are in the collections of the MMCA, the Galerie der Stadt Esslingen am Neckar, the Hoam Art Museum, and the Seoul Museum of Art, among others.
